Why Dayo Ekong Is After Lagos NDC Chairman… Stakeholders Call For Investigation
The recent crisis in the Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC , is allegedly orchestrated by the southwest vice chairman of the party, Pastor Dayo Ekong.
Impeccable source within the party said Pastor Ekong was responsible for the division in the Lagos chapter of the NDC because of her inability to secure the Eti-Osa federal constituency that she contested.
A video of the NDC primaries held at Eti-Osa constituency 1 sighted by our correspondent at the weekend shows that one Rotimi Obasanjo won with one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight votes (1,928) to defeat his closest rival Alfa Atiku scored one hundred and forty- seven votes (147)
According to the source, ” Pastor Ekong contested for the Eti-Osa house of Representatives without first relinquish her position as the south West vice- chairman. Who does that?
“Second, if you are familiar with her politics, she has always been like that, reaping where she never sowed. When the Labour Party took its root in Lagos State in 2022, Pastor Ekong came from nowhere to displace the chairman that was there. This initially caused some problems in the Labour Party, then, before it was resolved.
“Thirdly, you will recall that some tendency in the party was calling for her removal as South West Vice chairman immediately they joined the NDC, this was based on her antecedent.”
Our investigation revealed that the call for vote of no confidence on the Lagos State chairman, King Okuneye, was part of her scheme to allegedly take over the party structure in Lagos.
Another source , who craves anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the issue urged the national leadership of the party to investigate those behind the contrived crisis in Lagos NDC, adding that the state is too strategic to 2027 election and its outcomes to be left alone to those who want to use the party structure for their selfish ambitions instead of the overall good of its teeming supporters.
