NiDCOM Confirms Release Of Nigerian Girls Detained In Mauritius
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has confirmed the release of the Nigerian girls who were previously detained in Mauritius.
In a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Commission’s Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, NiDCOM is in close engagement with the relevant Nigerian Embassy, which has formally taken up the matter with the authorities concerned to ensure accountability and prevent a recurrence.
According to her, the girls have been safely released in Nairobi, and currently en route to Nigeria.
The NiDCOM Chairman expressing empathy, hoped that the affected ladies would be willing to share their experiences, to inform any necessary follow-up actions and support measures.
Dabiri-Erewa reiterated that the welfare, safety and protection of Nigerians, wherever they may be, will always remain a priority, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, to support Nigerians at home and across the diaspora.
