Osun On A Knife-Edge: Adeleke Alerts IGP Over Plot To Mass-Arrest Opposition Leaders, Accuses Senator Fadahunsi Of Inciting Genocide On Election Eve
Osogbo — In a dramatic twist just days before the highly anticipated Osun State governorship election, Governor Ademola Adeleke has launched a scathing attack on federal security agencies and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging a coordinated state-sponsored plot to hijack the democratic process.
Addressing a room full of journalists at an emergency press briefing on Tuesday, a visibly concerned Adeleke blew the whistle on what he described as an illegal police signal ordering the immediate roundup of Accord Party leaders across the state.
According to the Governor, the covert directive mandates the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to arrest opposition figures, traffic them to Abuja, and keep them behind bars until Monday—safely after the election results are decided.
“Arresting opposition leaders on the eve of an election amounts to the police helping and assisting the APC to rig the election,” Adeleke declared.
He revealed that over 62 Accord Party leaders are already languishing in illegal police custody without formal charges.
A Cry of Genocide in Ijeshaland
The briefing took an even darker turn when Governor Adeleke raised the alarm over a viral video featuring serving Senator Francis Fadahunsi.
In the footage, the lawmaker reportedly calls for the outright killing of Accord Party leaders, explicitly stating that if the politicians can not be found, their wives and children should be targeted instead.
“This is now beyond politics,” Adeleke warned, categorizing the threat as a severe national security emergency.
“This is an incitement to genocide against the people of Ijeshaland and Osun State. It requires the immediate attention of Mr. President through the office of the National Security Adviser.”
The Governor confirmed he has confronted the Inspector General of Police (IGP) regarding both the mass arrests and the viral video, demanding the immediate arrest of Senator Fadahunsi to prove to the world that Nigeria remains governed by the rule of law.
Demands for Electoral Justice
With tension reaching a boiling point across Osun State, Governor Adeleke issued a fierce mandate to the nation’s security chiefs:
Stop the IRT: Halt the partisan, localized operations of the Intelligence Response Team targeting opposition members.
Apprehend the Senator: Order the DSS and police to immediately arrest Senator Fadahunsi for inciting bloodbath and violence.
Enforce Neutrality: Abort all anti-people plots and compel officers to respect their oath of office before, during, and after the polls.
