Coalition Applauds Free, Fair Osun Election; Says It Signals Hope For 2027

The Democracy and Good Governance Watch Initiative (DGGWI) has lauded President Tinubu, INEC, and security agencies for the peaceful and credible conduct of the August 15, 2026, Osun State gubernatorial election.

The group in a statement issued by Nelson Ekujumi, Gbenga Soloki and Ajayi Popoola, stated that the successful poll reinforces commitment to transparent democracy and sets a positive precedent for the 2027 general elections.

The group also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its impartiality, professionalism and commitment to the conduct of a credible election, while the police and other security outfits were equally lauded for their professional conduct before, during and after the election,which invariably lend credence to their avowed commitment not to be involved in the process, but rather to ensure peace reigns supreme.

The people of Osun State were commended for standing firm by voting for candidates of their choice which is a reaffirmation of their trust and confidence in our electoral system.

According to the statement, “We want to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, INEC and the security agencies for the peaceful and credible conduct of the 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun state. The president has once again demonstrated his commitment to the 2026 general elections ,which he has consistently maintained will be free, fair, and credible.

“INEC displayed it’s non partisanship and professionalism in the process, such also deserves our praise, the security agencies for their professionalism in deployment and security cover and the people of Osun State, you showed doggedness and commitment to the process which is highly commendable.

“The media and local and international observers organizations must also be commended for their faithfulness to their oath, which has contributed greatly to deepening Nigeria’s democracy.”
