Tragic Price Of Perfection: Expatriate, 51, Dies After Grueling 8-Hour, 6-in-1 Plastic Surgery Marathon
GOIÂNIA, Brazil — A 51-year-old woman has died following a marathon eight-hour surgical session where doctors performed six cosmetic procedures at once.
Andreia Vieira Gaspar, a businesswoman who had been living in Spain, spent two years saving 118,000 Brazilian Real (approximately $22,918 USD) to fund her dream transformation. She traveled to Goiânia, Brazil, for the extensive operation, which was carried out by surgeon Dr. Lessandro Martins at Hospital Ankar.
The exhaustive combination of procedures included a deep-plane facelift, a forehead lift and reduction, bony chin reshaping (genioplasty), upper-eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), neck liposuction, and facial fat grafting. All six surgeries were performed consecutively under general anesthesia.
Following the eight-hour operation, Gaspar began suffering severe medical complications, including a severely swollen tongue and acute difficulty breathing. She tragically passed away on August 12, 2026.
Her grieving family has raised serious concerns regarding the hospital’s infrastructure, alleging that the facility lacked a dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and failed to provide critical emergency intervention when her breathing deteriorated.
The Public Ministry of Goiás has stepped in, formally requesting a police investigation into the facility and the surgical team for potential involuntary manslaughter.
