APC Bars Candidates From Foreign Travel Ahead Of 2027 Polls As Lagos Council Inaugurates
LAGOS, NIGERIA — The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has placed a strict embargo on foreign travel for all its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The directive was handed down by the APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, during the inauguration of the campaign council for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) and Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat (KOH) at the party’s secretariat on Acme Road.
Speaking at the swearing -in , Ojelabi emphasized that the real work lies at the grassroots, noting that Lagos State holds a massive infrastructure of 13,325 polling units.
He stressed that there are no polling booths at the Acme secretariat, tasking members to be visible and active within their specific senatorial districts, local governments, and wards.
“The responsibility placed before you today is substantial. Let’s approach this assignment with discipline,” Ojelabi stated.
“After the inauguration today, no candidate is allowed to travel out of the country until after the election. You must make yourself available to the campaign council.”
The chairman further advocated for an issue-based campaign completely devoid of intimidation or hate speech.
Also speaking at the event, Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the premier choice among political contenders, pointing to his track record in handling national security and economic recovery.
Reinforcing the call for absolute cohesion, the Director General of the campaign council, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, counselled party members to bury any differences, unite, and work collectively to secure a total victory for the APC across all levels in the 2027 general elections.
