NDDC Board, Management Pay Tribute To Pioneer OMPADEC Chairman

The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr Chiedu Ebie, alongside the Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, on behalf of the Board and Management of the Commission, have paid a condolence visit to the family of the pioneer Chairman of the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC), Chief Albert Horsfall, at his residence in Lagos.

During the visit, Mr Ebie in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, commiserated with the family over the passing of the former OMPADEC Chairman, describing him as a distinguished Nigerian who made significant contributions to the development of the Niger Delta region and the nation.

He paid tribute to Chief Horsfall’s purposeful leadership at OMPADEC and acknowledged the important role he played in laying the foundation for institutional intervention in developing the oil-producing communities of the Niger Delta region.

Also speaking, the NDDC Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, described the late Chief Horsfall as a pioneering figure whose contributions to the development of the Niger Delta would remain part of the region’s history.

According to him, the people of the Niger Delta would continue to celebrate Chief Horsfall for the foundation he laid during his tenure at OMPADEC and for his contributions to the evolution of interventionist institutions dedicated to the region’s development.

Before his appointment as Chairman of OMPADEC, Chief Albert Horsfall had distinguished himself in Nigeria’s intelligence and security services.

He was a pioneer member of the Nigeria Security Organisation (NSO), served as the pioneer Director of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and later became the second Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS).

The NDDC Chairman and Managing Director, on behalf of the Governing Board and Management, extended their heartfelt condolences to the Horsfall family, praying that God would grant the family the strength to bear the loss and grant the deceased eternal rest.
