Toluwanisings:Tope Alabi Threatens Legal Action Against Canada-Based Pastor Over Defamatory Murder Claims
Gospel singer Tope Alabi has threatened to file a libel lawsuit against a Canada-based pastor, Tayo Kumuyi (known online as Pastor Tayo Ministries), over social media posts linking her to the death of fellow gospel artist Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings.
Alabi’s legal representatives, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, issued a formal cease-and-desist letter dated October 24, 2026.

The document gives the online ministry a strict 24-hour ultimatum to delete the publications, halt further allegations, and issue an unreserved public retraction and apology.
According to Alabi’s lawyers, several Facebook posts published between October 20 and 24 accused the gospel icon of murder and ritual killings.
The legal team firmly rejected the claims, stating that no police investigation, court decision, or evidence supports the allegations.
They further noted that Alabi has privately and publicly mourned Toluwanisings and had absolutely no involvement in his passing.
The dispute escalated after Alabi issued an initial public warning against defamation on October 23, which was met with a subsequent social media post stating: “Tope Alabi, no letter will save you from my hand. Your only option is leaving your hiding place.”
Alabi’s solicitors classified this response as an open declaration of intent to continue the harassment, warning that they will use it as evidence of malice in court.
Addressing the pastor’s residence in Canada, Oakmount Legal Practitioners asserted that international borders would not shield the publisher from Nigerian legal procedures, given that the content targets a Nigerian audience and damages a Nigerian citizen’s reputation. If the operator fails to comply within the 24-hour window, Alabi’s team plans to pursue civil litigation for severe damages, request platform penalties from Meta, and report the digital threats to law enforcement.
