2027: Deliver Your States Or Forfeit Victory Claims, Wike Warns APC Governors
ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to governors and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that no individual should celebrate a national victory in the 2027 presidential election if they fail to win their home states for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Wike handed down the charge during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, where he emphasized that political appointments and campaign titles mean nothing without matching electoral results on the ground.
Focus on Grassroots Results
The minister stressed that the singular, ultimate objective of the campaign structure must be securing a clear victory for the president at the state level. He argued that top-heavy campaign positions are irrelevant if key actors cannot mobilize their immediate constituencies.
“I want to say, if you don’t deliver your states and the president wins, don’t say we’ve won,” Wike stated.
“It’s not a question of whether I am chairman, secretary or member of this. What is important is for the president to win.”
The Lagos and FCT Mandates
In a bold disclosure, Wike revealed that he extended the same strict standard to the highest levels of the administration, including the president’s inner circle. He recalled telling the Chief of Staff to the President that a national victory would be hollow if the ruling party lost its core strongholds.
“I told the Chief of Staff to the President, if the president doesn’t win in Lagos, don’t say we’ve won,” the minister added.
Turning his focus to his own immediate areas of political influence, Wike vowed to turn the tide in territories that historically presented tough electoral battlegrounds for the ruling party. He promised a sweeping mobilization effort to secure dominant numbers for the administration.
“By the grace of God, Rivers and FCT will vote massively for Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Wike declared.
