2023: I’ll Defeat My Opponents With A ‘Landslide’, Aliero Boasts
From Ayodele Ajoge, Birnin-Kebbi
Senator representing Kebbi central senatorial district at the National Assembly, Muhammadu Adamu Aliero, has expressed optimism that he will win the Kebbi Central senatorial election by beating his opponent hands down.
Aliero, a former Governor of the State made this statement at a rally in the State capital after the Supreme Court affirmed him as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate.
He said despite the internal wrangling, the PDP in Kebbi State remained an indivisible political party and that all the grey areas have been resolved.
“Our focus now is to win elections scheduled for this and next month. The hardships Nigerians are going through are as a result of APC’s misrule are mind-touching and unacceptable in the 21st Century.
“When voted into power, the PDP will restore the past glory of our nation, alleviate poverty among the people, dismantle security challenges and strengthen democratic values.”
He called on PDP supporters in the state to distance themselves from political and electoral violence because such actions were capable of destroying the image of the party already cruising to victory.
Senator Aliero, who was elected senator on the platform of the APC, dumped the ruling party after he lost the party’s ticket to the state’s Governor, Atiku Bagudu, who is also seeking to represent Kebbi Central in the senate.
