Group Congratulates APC For A Successful Convention

A civil society organization, Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate (CPPM), has joined democratic interests both locally and internationally to congratulate and commend the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a successful national convention held on Saturday 26th March 2022 in the nation’s capital city, Abuja.

In a press statement issued in Lagos on Sunday 27th March 2022, few hours after the convention by it’s Executive Chairman Nelson Ekujumi, the group stated that as part of it’s responsibility as society’s watchdog in our democratic dispensation, “CPPM is pleased to have observed that the convention was conducted in line with democratic tenets and provisions of the 2022 Electoral Act which is commendable”.

According to the group, “Since a society’s democratic wellbeing is dependent on the wellbeing of the stakeholders namely the political parties, it behoves on the society to keep vigil to ensure that democratic principles are upheld at all times by the parties in their activities.”

Thus, from the observation of the conduct of the 2022 convention of the All Progressive Congress (APC), CPPM scores the convention high in terms of adherence to democratic tenets which is commendable and worthy of emulation.

CPPM used the medium to call on other political parties to take a cue from the APC in conducting their own national convention in a manner that dignifies our democracy and country.

According to Nelson Ekujumi, the Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate (CPPM) in congratulating the newly elected members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, admonished them to remain focused on the ideals of the founding fathers of the party as they rally the party to remain united, faithful and committed to democratic ideals and good governance at all times. 

CPPM wished the new executives, a successful tenure in our democratic journey.
