Gunmen Abduct Kwara Monarch
Armed Bandits have invaded Igbesi community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting the traditional ruler, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land, alongside other residents.
The attack occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday August 22, 2026, when armed bandits stormed the community.
According to a local source the monarch was taken to an unknown location, while other residents were also abducted during the attack.
The incident comes amid multiple reported kidnapping attacks across different parts of Kwara State within the past 24 hours, heightening concerns over the security situation in the state.
Igbesi is a community within Oke-Onigbin town in Isin Local Government Area, Kwara South.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of victims and the whereabouts of the abducted monarch remained unclear.
