Fubara Rallies Nigerian Lawyers To Rescue Judiciary From Political Manipulators
PORT HARCOURT — Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has made a passionate plea to the nation’s legal community to liberate Nigeria’s justice system from the grip of corrupt forces and political actors. Hosting the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Fubara received a resounding reception as he stood up for the rule of law and the defense of democratic institutions.
Addressing thousands of legal practitioners, Fubara spoke candidly about the systemic sabotage currently plaguing the justice system. He warned that “brazen corruption,” “unjust precedents,” and deliberate technical delays are being weaponised by desperate politicians to create serious impediments to true justice.
Fubara, who has consistently resisted attempts by political godfathers to destabilise Rivers State, urged judges to look beyond rigid legal technicalities. He stressed that judicial officers must weigh the real-world impact of their rulings on societal peace and national development, rather than allowing the courts to be used as tools for political vendettas.
“The judiciary must remain the ultimate sanctuary for the common man,” Fubara stated, challenging lawyers and judges alike to reject compliance with oppression and instead brave the odds to restore public confidence in the bench.
The successful hosting of the conference in Port Harcourt marks a major triumph for Fubara’s administration, signaling a return to peace and stability in the state after external political friction forced the relocation of the event the previous year.
