INEC Launches Online Voter Register Portal Ahead Of 2027 General Election
ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially uploaded the Preliminary Register of Voters to an online platform, bowing to public demand for greater transparency ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a press statement released on Monday, October 26, 2026, by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), the commission announced that citizens can now access the database via display.inecnigeria.org.
This digital rollout follows a nationwide physical display conducted at local registration areas between October 9 and October 15, 2026, under Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
While the physical window allowed voters to submit claims and object to incorrect entries, numerous stakeholders and citizens pressured the commission to provide a digital alternative to improve accessibility.
INEC noted that the online repository features the exact same preliminary data displayed physically earlier this month.
The commission is currently auditing the submitted claims and objections as it prepares to certify and publish the definitive Final Register of Voters on December 15, 2026.
