#JusticeForTimothy; CPA Demands Trial Of Suspects Of Timothy Adegoke’s Murder In Osogbo
The Centre for Public Accountability CPA, has restated its demand, for the diligent prosecution of suspects, involved in the gruesome murder of Mr. Timothy Adegoke , a Master’s Degree student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, at Hilton Hotel, Ile Ife, Osun State.
CPA in a statement issued on Monday and signed by its Executive Director, Olufemi Lawson, also asked the Inspector General of Police, to move the prosecution of the suspects, who have been under series of investigation at the Abuja headquarters of the Nigeria Police, to Osun state, where the murder was perpetrated, without further delay.
“Having followed the series of claims and counter claims from persons directly or indirectly linked to the circumstances that led to the death of Timothy, we are constrained, to demand, that the prosecution of these suspect, be made to be transparent as much as possible, especially as we have began to observe, unpleasant scenarios around the handling of the suspects, in Abuja where they are currently being held. While we commend the Inspector General of Police and the police leadership for the dedication it has put, in unraveling the circumstances behind the murder of Timothy Adegoke, we are not unaware, of the series of attempt, to truncate our quest for justice, as the scheduled trial of the suspects in Abuja, has been made to be devoid of transparency, giving undue preferential treatment to lead suspect, Mr Rahman Adedoyin and most significantly, the media blackout trailing the Abuja trial.”
“We wish to remind the Nigeria Police force, that the quest for justice, is not only of the immediate family of Timothy Adegoke, but of all human of good conscience, the Civil Society and international human rights watch organisations. This must be an avenue for us as a nation, to prove our mettle as a society of justice, no matter whose ox is gored.”
“We also appeal to the judiciary, to ensure a speedy trial of the suspects, in the murder of Timothy Adegoke, as this remains the only way, that a closure, can be brought, to the matter.”
The group promised to continue, to closely monitor events around the trial of the suspects in the death of Timothy, as it remained committed to ensuring that justice is served and that such unfortunate incident is not witnessed again in our society.
