2023:LASU Don Declares For Rep

A lecturer with the Lagos State University, Dr. Adeyinka Bello-Olarinmoye also known as Iyalode ABO, has declared her intention to contest for the House of Representatives, Alimosho federal constituency of Lagos.

Here is a profile of the female activist.
She completed her secondary education at St. Peter’s Unity Secondary School Akure, Ondo State in 1992. On the completion of her secondary school she joined her mother in Lagos to run a canteen during the June 12 crisis where she had the opportunity of getting introduced to the struggle for the emancipation of the down trodden and joined the campaign for democratic rule. She proceeded to obtain a Diploma in 1996 in Computer Science at Mushin a Community Consult, Mushin, in Lagos.

In 1999, she got into active politics by joining the AD party in the Ilasamaja area of Mushin, Lagos. She was the youth leader for AD and later the coordinator for BAT Independent Supporters. She was actively involved in BATCO activities and still represents Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu political interests and school. She is currently the coordinator for Jagabanists online, BAT is Coming Facebook group, Amazons for ABAT and many more social media outlets for the promotion of Asiwaju’s political interests.

She was admitted into the University of Ibadan in 1997, where she obtained a B.A in Anthropology in 2001. It was at the University of Ibadan that her passion for service was brought to the open. She was actively involved with students’ movements. She championed the campaign for ‘Abacha Must Go’ with fellow students in Nigeria and served on occasions on University of Ibadan Students’ Union committees, and transitional/electoral committee of the National Association of Nigerian students (NANS). She served the nation in 2002 with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Akure. She later proceeded to have her Master’s degree in Anthropology/Africa Studies from the same university. She subsequently got her PhD degree at the same citadel, University of Ibadan. After her masters education she picked a job with the centre for Legislative Studies; a Non-Government Organization that deals with the empowerment and advocacy for the Nigeria Legislative Arm of Government. As the Executive Director she saw to the day-to-day running of the organization, giving directives and making the administrative policies from time to time. It was on this platform that she provided the fora for the robust debates of the then president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s Third Term Agenda. She was later appointed into the service of the Lagos State University as a Lecturer in 2009, where she serves till date.

Politically, appointed the ICG chairman for Ambode campaign for Igando Ikotun in 2015.

Appointed a member of Lagos State Screening Committee in 2017.

Her popular slogans are: “not just a woman but pedigree”; “take a fresh breath!” “Liberation for the masses”.

Adeyinka also known as ABO is not just a woman, but one with pedigree. An Africanist, culture activist and a lover of Yoruba traditions. She is a wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She is responsible, amiable, compassionate, capable, trustworthy and above all, a God fearing one. If given the opportunity to serve, she will do so efficiently.
