My Colleagues Should Allow Buhari To Pick His Successor- Orji Kalu

…….Says 9 Presidential Aspirants Will Step Down For Lawan

……Kwankwaso May Become President If…..

Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu has urged his colleagues governors to allow President Muhammadu Buhari to pick his successor.

Speaking on a current affairs program, Politics Today, monitored on Channels Television on Monday, Kalu said the governors are picking their successors and all the available political offices in their respective states, yet they don’t want the President to chose his successor.

My colleagues (Governors) should be fair to President Buhari, they should allow him to choose who will succeed him. Some of them picked the governorship candidate, the running mate and party chairman in their states, yet they don’t want Buhari to choose who will succeed him, they are not fair to Buhari. When I was leaving in 2007, I picked my successor and ensured that he wins.

On his preference for Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, Kalu says he’s being realistic. “I don’t have the numbers. We have over 7,000 delegates that will participate in the presidential primaries and about 3,000 are from the south. And out of the 3000, only 700 are from the south east. Where will I get the numbers?”

“The two zones that are yet to produce President in Nigeria are the south east and the north east. And since our brothers in the south are not supporting us, let it go to the north east.

“Besides, I’m supporting Ahmed Lawan because he stabilized the senate.

“He’s the best man for the job. Our southern brothers are not being fair to us. We supported former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. We supported Vice President Yemi Osinbajo . Why are they not supporting us now. We are wiser now. If you vote for us, we’ll vote for you.

“Nine presidential aspirants will step down for Lawan. It will happen between Tuesday (tomorrow) or Wednesday. If Tinubu and Osinbajo have conscience they will not run. Why are they not supporting us? We supported Obasanjo and Osinbajo.

He, however, raised the alarm that Kwankwaso may become President because he’s already a presidential candidate in New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP.

“Kwankwaso is a problem. He’s already a presidential candidate In NNPP. If the PDP and APC choose their presidential candidate(s) from the south, Kwankwaso will be president.” He said.
