Fish Out The Killers Of Rev Father Isaac Achi,Lagos CAN Chairman Tasks IGP, Gov Bello

As more condemnation greets the killing of Rev. Father Isaac Achi of St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church along Daza road, Kafin-Koro, Paikoro local government area, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter, Bishop Dr. Stephen Adegbite has called on the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to go beyond condemning the “barbaric act” and fish out the perpetrators of the act. In a release by his Special Adviser on Media, Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Rev Oladapo Daramola, Adegbite said people who do these kinds of evil must be brought to justice.

In his words, Adegbite said, ” while I commiserate with the Catholic family and the entire Christian community over the sad loss of Rev. Father Isaac Achi, who was gruesomely murdered by suspected bandits last Sunday, I wish to call on the Governor of Niger State and the Inspector-General of Police to fish out his killers without delay. This is one too many, and we can not continue to condemn such actions without making those doing it pay for their actions. It is for the lack of justifiable and commensurate action from a law enforcement perspective that they persist in what they do. For how long are we going to allow these to continue? For a country that has laws, and yet some criminals are treated as sacred and untouchable, and their victims are denied justice. That in no way is a true definition of egalitarianism.”

“The dictum laid down by Lord Hewart, the then Lord Chief Justice of England which says “Justice must not only be done, but must also be seen to be done” is what we want to see. Several cases of this nature are yet to be resolved. We cannot continue to sweep grievous matters like this under the carpet. People want to see fairness, justice, equity and not partiality as the case seem to be at the moment. I hope those in authority will take this matter seriously. For once, if justice is served and all eyes can see, it will be a good starting point for rebuilding confidence in our people”
