Kashim Shettima: When Capital Post Throws Journalism To The Dust

By James Bwala

Last night I read the story published by Capital Post an Abuja online medium, which claim it has in possession a video clip where Boko Haram fighters are celebrating the Vice President elect, Senator Kashim Shettima. Initially I wanted to ignore the report, but going through th social media this morning as my usual routine, I though I should correct this calculated attempt to smite the image of Senator Kashim Shettima in the face of the ongoing.

We are not unaware of the motives and antics behind such publication. But for Capital Post to allow a shaky hands like this on their page shows that the paper is not original and lacks ethics. If they had attached a video as they claim in the story we would have seen a proof of life as so understand that Capital Post is among the leagues of respected online medium Nigeria is proud to have in this current media transformation system.

Now that Capital Post have thrown journalism to the dust, we can confidently placed them on the bench of those slaughtering the image of journalism by promoting fake news which goes way down to mud. Any right thinking person who reads the lines by this faceless reporter knows that these are baggages from an albatross.

I have said it several times that Kashim Shettima is going to be the target of attacks in the unfolding situation to bring back hope to Nigerians. I am absolutely certain also that Kashim Shettima has the capacity and tenacity to develop thick scale and not to derail in his focus of ensuring a renewed hope has reached the door steps of millions of Nigerians looking upto this hope of peace and development in our country, which the President and Vice President elect have the blue print to take Nigeria to Nirvana.

When a newspaper is speaking with the mouth of the opposition for a silicon such as Capital Post has done through an unamed cockrow on its byline, there are slim chance that such paper can survive from its bedridden state. It shows how weak and reduce it has become and therefore, lost all significance of the quality expected in a media organization when it threw ethics to the dogs.

How not to discredit the vice president elect is never to tell an unsubstantiated story about him, his conduct or person. Shettima is a book in its whole that unless you read the whole there are chances you may never understand the man. The story of the civilian joint task force, CJTF cannot be completed without Kashim Shettima and the role he played as governor of Borno state. Today, when the CJTF are being celebrated even among the Nigerian security agencies, there is the note that one man stand to make it happen during his leadership of the state.

According to Capital Post, the insurgents promised a peaceful co-existence if he (Kashim Shettima) keeps promise of introducing Sharia law in the land. While I read this part with a wide smile again, I see a desperation by the writer to ignite sentiments. I could clearly see that the writer also have lost touch with history about the Sharia law introduction. Whether or not he understands the motives of the Boko Haram to this day that it hangs on the introduction of Sharia law is far laughable. I urged this writer to restudy the reports about Boko Haram.

Linking the alledged celebration of the Boko Haram to the February 25, 2023 was a clear massage that the writer is a paid scripts of the PDP and LP who crashed out at the polling units. It is sad though that whoever sponsored Capital Post have no good material to tell a compelling storyline that can sell in the Amazon.
