Kogi 2023: Governance Is Not Drama, Dino Does Not Have What It Takes To Be Governor-Wike

Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers state has declared that former senator representing Kogi West in the national assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dino Melaye, is not qualified to be its governorship candidate in the forthcoming.

Wike who spoke at a live telecast in Port Harcourt monitored on Channel Television on Tuesday in Lagos said those who are promoting the candidature of Dino wanted the party to lose.

He said as an opposition party, the PDP ought to have a candidate that’s good enough to challenge the status quo.

“We are not talking of drama here. If Kogi wants development, they won’t talk about Dino. When Saraki brought him to me, I was laughing. Again, after 2019 general elections when Atiku Abubakar returns from Dubai, he came here with Dino to meet me. I asked, what’s happening here. Have you abandoned Saraki? No serious political party will present Dino Melaye as the governorship candidate for the forthcoming Kogi election.” He added.

Wike maintains that fighting a ruling party without presenting a united front is an indication that the PDP has not learnt its lesson.

On his retirement plans, Wike says he’ll stay back in the village.

“What do I go to stay in Abuja for? I won’t be part of former governors forum. To form a pressure group or what? Which recognition? Recognition is in the village here.” He said.
