Kebbi Supplementary Elections: Observer Group Okays INEC Preparation

The Accredited Observer Group who were in Kebbi State for the rerun of the governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly Elections have expressed satisfaction on INEC preparedness for the conduct of the election tomorrow, Saturday, 15th April, 2023.
In a communique issue at the end of the monitoring on Friday and read to news men, the group observed and stated that they met with the State Commissioner of Police who assured them that there would be tight security during and after the election.
The group also met with the leadership of the INEC and assurance was also given to conduct transparent and credible election.
“We also observed the distribution of sensitive materials in INEC office on Friday 14th April 2023, and INEC National Commissioner in charge of Voter education, Chief Fetus Okoye, has assured all Nigeria that any INEC Staff who compromise with this election will be shown exit way in INEC.
“We are fully aware that supplementary election in Nigeria always embrace voter party and that is why we are using this medium to call on all the electorate in Kebbi State to come out enmass to cast their vote to the candidate of their choice and we are also advising them not sale their vote as their vote i their is power.”
In a related development, the Police Authorities in the State said it’s fully prepared for Kebbi supplementary elections, saying the Kebbi State Police Command and other sister agencies are fully prepared to provide a conducive atmosphere for peaceful conduct of the supplementary elections that is slated for Saturday in 20 local government areas of the state.
Commissioner Police, Kebbi State Police Command, CP Lawal Abubakar Daura, has earlier warned Area Commanders, DPOs and other Tactical Commanders to exhibit a high level of professionalism and abide by the Revised Force Standard Operational Guidelines for Police Officers and other Law enforcement agents on election duty.
He warned officers to be civil and mindful of their conduct in conformity with the Human rights of the peace loving people of kebbi State.
The command PPRO, CSP Nafiu Abubakar said the CP has also charged the senior police officers to ensure adequate security coverage at all the affected polling units and collation centers across the State by deploying policemen and other security personnel with a view to prevent thuggery and other electoral offenses.
