Bimbo Esho Lauds Prof Oluyitan For Dedicating Book To Evergreen Musical

It was a great honour for me today receiving Professor Funso. E. Oluyitan , Professor of Media Communications/ Leadership & Change in our office.

More excited that Prof asked me to write the forward of his book “ DISCO TEXT: HISTORY OF NIGERIA ON RECORD DISCS FROM 1960“ which he dedicated to our Company EVERGREEN MUSICAL COMPANY LIMITED and all Nigerians at home and abroad.

The book “DISCO TEXT: HISTORY OF NIGERIA ON RECORD DISCS FROM 1960 “according to Professor Oluyitan was borne out of his passion for the lessons in Yoruba music which dates back to when his father played the gramophone records.

Prof also became a gramophone Librarian at the then Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation now Radio Nigeria, Ibadan in the early 60’s.

As a custodian then of all record discs aired on radio he became immersed in the lake of Yoruba traditional and contemporary music.

This book he said marks 63 years of Nigerian musicians, “social/political, history, music & creative arts “ discs.

I thank Professor Oluyitan for dedicating this book to us in recognition of our effort as custodian of Nigeria’s Indigenous Music.

This book is a careful analysis and documentation of entirety of humanity through songs.

Recognition must also be given to Chief Tunde Odunlade who introduced me to Prof Oluyitan when I visited the TUNDE ODUNLADE ART gallery in Ibadan.
