Dabiri-Erewa Hails Sanwo-Olu For Creating Diaspora Agency In Lagos

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has applauded the gesture of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state by creating a full fledged Diaspora office in the state to take care of the interests and welfare of theindigenes in the diaspora.

Dabiri-Erewa made this known in a statement issued by NiDCOM spokesman, Abdur-Rahman Balogun in Abuja on Monday.

In a congratulatory letter to Gov. Sanwo-Olu, she said the creation ofthe office will further engender closer relationship and fast trackdevelopment in the state with its diaspora.

Àccording to her, Lagos has joined the league of states like Abia,which has a Diaspora Commission, Ondo and Anambra have full Commissioners for Diaspora, while Edo and Cross Rivers are in theprocess of setting up their diaspora agencies. Every state of the federation has a diaspora focal person.

The NIDCOM boss urged other states to give priority to diaspora affairs as every state has its indigenes abroad excelling in one way or theother, and willing to contribute to the state and national development.

She, therefore, congratulates Gov. Sanwo-Olu, and the State Diaspora Focal Person, Jermaine Sanwo-Olu, who will be the pioneer head of the Agency.
