Kebbi Govt Denies Report Linking It With ADC Crisis

The Kebbi State Government has denied allegations linking it to the ongoing court case involving two factional chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.
This rebuttal was contained in a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
Idris lamented that a publication in two National dailies in which the State government was accused of sponsoring was baseless and lie from the pit of hell.
“We wish to categorically make it clear that the Kebbi State Government is neither a members of the ADC nor does it have any affiliation with the party.
“The ADC has been embroiled in a leadership tussle for a long time. It is this same crisis that led the two factional leaders to court, with both factions claiming supremacy.
“The authors of the reports have not only abused the ethics of the journalism profession but may have also acted in a manner that amounts to contempt of court.” He said.
“Investigations revealed that the authors of the story were not present in court, yet proceeded to publish a one-sided account, thereby making the reports not balanced nor reflective of the principles of fairness, equity, and professionalism.
“Therefore, we appeal to journalists to always ensure strict compliance with professional ethics in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
“This is not an APC affair but an internal dispute within the ADC, which requires internal mechanisms for resolution rather than casting unfounded accusations on the State government.”
It would be recalled that a factional Chairman of ADC in Kebbi State, Abdulrasak Abubakar, has dragged his rival chairman in the state, Safiyyanu Bala, before a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Birnin Kebbi over alleged contempt of court.
