Lagos PDP Slams Wike Over ‘Ignorant’ Attacks On Bode George
The Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his recent criticism of elder statesman Chief Olabode George, labeling the remarks reckless and historically illiterate.
In a statement, the party defended George against Wike’s inquiries into private property ownership, highlighted a Supreme Court exoneration of George regarding past allegations, and warned the Minister to stop meddling in Lagos politics.
The PDP further characterized Wike as a “poster child for political treachery” and demanded he focus on his administrative duties, stating that Lagos is not subject to his political maneuvers.
Dr Christopher Odianarewo, Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary in a statement said Minister Wike suffers from a chronic inability to process facts before vomiting reckless diatribes.
The statement read; ” It has become painfully obvious that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, suffers from a chronic inability to process facts before vomiting reckless diatribes. His recent outbursts against a revered elder statesman, Chief Olabode George, are not only disgraceful but expose his trademark desperation, historical ignorance, and blatant disregard for the rule of law.”
Continuing, he said Wike hypocritically labels a man who was categorically exonerated by the Supreme Court, the highest court of the land, from all corrupt allegations during his tenure as Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Board.
“How does a supposedly “educated” public servant conveniently forget judicial verdicts? Wike’s attempt to drag a cleared man through the mud shows that he is a thoroughly confused fellow who only respects the judiciary when rulings favor his selfish political survival”.
Odianarewo described the Maitama House Allegation as an affront and abuse.
He added; “Wike’s reckless questioning of the ownership of Chief Bode George’s Abuja residence is a clear cut case of an affront and a dangerous abuse of office.Wike must be reminded that neither he nor Rivers State has any link whatsoever to Chief Olabode George’s private residence.
“Indeed, Wike’s penchant for overstepping boundaries and meddling where he has no business is well documented. It recalls the memorable occasion when he was embarrassed by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to a former Chief of Defence Staff.
“While attempting to hobnob and throw his weight around within the private residence of the former military chief, Wike was firmly put in his place by the alert security detail, exposing both his lack of decorum and the limits of his unauthorized intrusion.Wike must understand that his ministerial portfolio is not a license to intimidate citizens or weaponize state power against private individuals”.
