Hilda’s Fire: Legal War Erupts Over ‘Killer Food’ And BBL Slurs

LAGOS— A multi-million naira record label war has taken a toxic personal turn, dragging Nigeria’s former culinary queen into the crossfire and triggering threats of a massive defamation lawsuit.

Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has launched a fierce legal counter-strike against street-pop sensation Seyi Vibez. The singer weaponised an ongoing music industry financial war to launch a scathing online attack against her character and her cooking.

The drama erupted when Seyi Vibez, alongside fellow former Dapper Music labelmates Shallipopi and T.I Blaze, publicly called out their former boss, Damilola “Dapper” Akinwunmi. The artistes accused Akinwunmi of deep financial impropriety, claiming a staggering ₦1 billion in catalogue revenues had vanished.

However, the dispute crossed the line from a business fallout to personal warfare when Seyi Vibez brought Akinwunmi’s romantic partner, Hilda Baci, into the fray.

In a series of explosive, now-deleted posts on X (formerly Twitter), Seyi Vibez claimed that the label’s missing catalogue funds were being diverted to fund the chef’s lifestyle and cosmetic surgeries. “Na Hilda Baci BBL all una catalogue money dey go,” the singer posted to his millions of followers.

He then took a direct shot at Baci’s professional livelihood, alleging that her cooking was hazardous. “I chop Hilda Baci food one day. Na the same Dapper give me. The food almost kill me,” he wrote.

The backlash from the Guinness World Record breaker was swift and unyielding. Refusing to be collateral damage in her partner’s corporate battle, Baci’s legal team fired off a blistering demand letter, accusing Seyi Vibez of outright libel and calculated defamation of character. The notice gave the singer a strict ultimatum: immediately retract the statements, delete the posts, and issue a public apology, or face a high-stakes battle in a court of law.

Faced with a devastating legal war, Seyi Vibez quickly scrubbed the controversial tweets from his timeline. However, the singer has yet to offer the public apology demanded by Baci’s lawyers, leaving the music industry and fans wondering if this digital ceasefire will hold, or if a courtroom showdown is still on the menu.
