LAGOS, NIGERIA — The Class of 1996 of Igbobi Girls’ High School, known as the IGHS Formidables ’96, successfully held a two-day anniversary celebration to mark 30 years since leaving their alma mater.

The event, which took place on Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3, 2026, brought together former classmates to reconnect and give back to the school under the theme, “Same Roots, Bigger Dreams.”

Supporting the Next Generation

The anniversary began on Friday with a Back-to-School Give-Back Initiative.

The alumnae group provided current students with essential school items, including:

School uniforms

School shoes

School bags

Socks

The set also presented a special appreciation gift to the school management to support its ongoing educational mission.

“We are products of this institution, and we believe that one of the best ways to show our appreciation is to give back and support the students who are walking the same corridors today,” the class stated.

A Milestone Celebration

On Saturday, October 3, the group hosted its official 30th Anniversary Celebration.

The gathering focused on networking, reminiscing, and honoring the collective and individual achievements of the members over the past three decades.

“The lessons, values, friendships and memories have remained part of who we are,” the Formidables noted. “Today, we return with gratitude and with a desire to ensure that those coming behind us can also dream bigger and achieve more.”

The event concluded with the planning committee, signed by Chairman Taiwo Adekunle-Onigbinde and Secretary Onayimi Johnson, thanking the school management, teachers, and families for making the two-day anniversary a success. The group reaffirmed its long-term commitment to supporting the younger generation and the school.
