Mercy Alexander Empowers Over 200 Widows In Honour Of Late Father, Pa Alexander Akpati, Nine Years After

The Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Alexander Foundation, Mercy Alexander, has empowered over 200 widows as part of activities commemorating the ninth anniversary of the death of her late father, Pa Alexander Akpati, in a charity programme aimed at sustaining his legacy of love, generosity, and compassion for the less privileged.

The annual widow empowerment programme, held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Land of Flourish Tabernacle (LOFT), attracted more than 200 widows who gathered to receive support, encouragement, and spiritual nourishment in an atmosphere of love and fellowship.

The initiative, organised in memory of the late Pa Alexander Akpati, reflects Mercy Alexander’s commitment to preserving her father’s legacy through humanitarian service and support for vulnerable members of society.

Speaking at the event, Mercy Alexander described her late father as an epitome of love who made tremendous sacrifices to ensure that she received the best in life before his demise.

According to her, the annual charity programme is her way of immortalising his memory by extending to others the same love, kindness, and generosity that he demonstrated throughout his lifetime.

She noted that the initiative was not merely an annual gathering but a meaningful expression of gratitude to a father whose values and sacrifices continue to inspire her philanthropic activities.

Through the Mercy Alexander Foundation, she reaffirmed the importance of reaching out to widows and other vulnerable people, particularly those who require encouragement and practical assistance to navigate the challenges of life.

Apostle Chidi Shadrach Urges Widows to Remain Steadfast in the Lord.

In his remarks, the Senior Pastor and Founder of Land of Flourish Tabernacle, Apostle Chidi Shadrach, commended the initiative and expressed sympathy with the widows over the challenges associated with losing their husbands.

Drawing his biblical text from 1 Timothy 5:3, which emphasises the need to honour and care for widows who are genuinely in need, Apostle Shedrach encouraged the women to remain steadfast in their faith in God, regardless of their circumstances.

He urged them not to lose hope but to continue trusting in the Lord for strength, comfort, provision, and direction as they navigate the realities of widowhood.

The cleric also called on churches, individuals, and well-meaning members of society to demonstrate genuine love and concern for widows within their communities by offering them practical support, encouragement, and assistance whenever necessary.

According to him, caring for widows should not be left to a few individuals or charitable organisations, but should be embraced as a collective responsibility by the church and society at large.

Apostle Shedrach further cautioned against the misuse of widow-focused charitable gatherings, advising women whose husbands are still alive not to present themselves as widows.

He also encouraged widows who are financially comfortable or whose children are already flourishing in life to allow the support to reach those facing greater hardship.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that assistance intended for vulnerable widows gets to those who genuinely need it most.

Widows Pray for Mercy Alexander and Nigeria

The event also featured prayers offered by the widows for Mercy Alexander, asking God to strengthen her, bless her endeavours, and grant her the grace to sustain the annual humanitarian initiative in honour of her late father.

They equally offered prayers for peace, unity, and stability in Nigeria, expressing hope for a better nation where vulnerable citizens can enjoy improved living conditions and greater support from individuals, institutions, and government.

The prayers underscored the deep appreciation of the beneficiaries for the foundation’s continued efforts to identify with them and provide a platform where their needs and concerns are acknowledged.

Sustaining a Legacy of Love Through Philanthropy

Mercy Alexander, a media executive and founder and host of De Gallery on TV, has continued to demonstrate the importance of combining professional accomplishments with humanitarian service.

The annual widow empowerment programme has become a significant part of her efforts to keep alive the memory of Pa Alexander Akpati, whose life, according to his daughter, was characterised by love, sacrifice, and a determination to give his family the best possible opportunities.

Nine years after his passing, the initiative stands as a reminder that the legacy of a departed loved one can continue to make a meaningful difference through acts of kindness and service to humanity.

By empowering over 200 widows, Mercy Alexander has not only honoured her father’s memory but has also reinforced the message that compassion remains a powerful tool for restoring hope, strengthening communities, and bringing relief to those facing difficult circumstances.

The programme concluded with prayers, appreciation, and renewed calls for individuals, religious institutions, and organisations to extend a helping hand to widows and other vulnerable members of society.

The message of the day was clear: while loved ones may depart, their legacy of love can live on through the lives they inspire and the people they help.
