Adebayo Condemns Enugu Airport Killings; Says Opposition Intimidation Will Not Be Tolerated

ENUGU — The 2027 Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has strongly condemned the brutal violence and targeted killing of National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in Enugu.

The opposition members were reportedly subjected to a fatal shooting on Sunday, October 11, 2026, while gathered at the airport to welcome their party’s governorship candidate.

In a fierce reaction issued via a press release signed by Comrade Mark Adebayo, the head of Media and Communications of the Adebayo-Bugaje Presidential Campaign, Prince Adebayo described the unprovoked assault as a direct attack on democracy itself, declaring that opposition intimidation will no longer be tolerated.

Adebayo explicitly called out the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies, demanding an immediate end to “selective protection.”

He charged security leadership to discharge their constitutional duties with absolute impartiality to ensure all political entities and citizens are protected, regardless of affiliation.

“The security agencies are funded by taxpayers to protect every Nigerian, not to serve as an arm of the ruling party,” Adebayo stated, demanding a full-scale, unbiased investigation into the Enugu killings.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the statement urged the electorate to remain courageous, stand their ground, and defend the sanctity of the ballot box.

He claimed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has perfected vote-buying corruption and structural oppression out of desperation, knowing its poor governance record over the last 11 years prevents it from winning a free and fair contest.

Adebayo extended his deep condolences to the families of the victims and the leadership of the NDC, promising to stand in solidarity with progressive forces to guarantee a peaceful democratic process for Nigeria.
