APC Campaign Council Rebukes Atiku Over Alleged Disrespect To President Tinubu
ABUJA — The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has issued a sharp rebuke to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of public indiscretion and a lack of respect for the office of the President.
In a press statement released on Monday, October 12, 2026, the campaign council expressed concern over Atiku’s public conduct, specifically pointing to his recent decision to address President Bola Tinubu on a first-name basis as “Bola.”
According to APC Campaign Spokesperson Dele Alake, the former Vice President’s actions fell short of the traditional decorum and statesmanship expected of someone who has held the nation’s second-highest office and continues to aspire to the presidency.
The council alleged that political animosity and ambition following the last presidential election have negatively influenced Atiku’s public utterances.
Despite the criticisms, the APC Campaign Council stated it would not reciprocate the perceived disrespect.
The council has directed all party leaders, spokespersons, and support groups to continue according Atiku the full courtesies and regard due to his status as a former Vice President.
The statement concluded by asserting that the APC campaign will remain focused on issue-based politics, highlighting President Tinubu’s governance achievements and the administration’s economic reforms as it prepares to seek a second-term mandate from Nigerian voters.
