“Grid Independence Or Total Darkness” – Adebayo Vows To Force Solar Onto Every Nigerian Roof In 11 Months
The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has thrown down a radical gauntlet for the 2027 presidential elections. He vowed to completely bypass Nigeria’s fragile national grid by installing between 11 and 15 kilowatts of solar power on every single roof across the country within just 11 months of taking office.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, Adebayo delivered a scathing critique of Nigeria’s traditional energy strategies. He slammed past rural electrification models for wasting public funds on expensive 33 kVA lines that ultimately fail to deliver steady power.
“I promise that between 11 to 15 kilowatts of solar power will be put on every roof within 11 months,” Adebayo declared.
Rather than relying on central grid infrastructure, Adebayo’s audacious plan hinges on aggressive local industrialization. His administration plans to establish solar-panel manufacturing factories in every region of the country while utilizing local government funds to run massive community training programs. By creating an army of locally trained installation and maintenance technicians, the project aims to simultaneously solve Nigeria’s chronic electricity deficit and generate millions of jobs for unemployed youth.
The bold proposal comes as a direct challenge to mainstream energy policies, shifting the upcoming 2027 campaign focus heavily toward immediate, decentralized renewable energy solutions.
