Lagbo Alaafia: Let’s Return To Our Value System—Olatayo George
A social affairs commentator, Pastor (Dr) Olatayo George of Latunde Grammar School, Ile-Ife, has urged religious leaders to focus more on our value system that are good during their teachings as a way out of domestic violence.
Reacting to the question posed by the President of CHESTRAD Global, Dr Olufunmilola Dare on Friday while speaking on Crown 101.5 FM in Ile-Ife, George maintains that some of our values system are very good and some are very bad, adding that religious leaders should focus more on the good ones in their teachings.
Speaking on the topic “the impact of COVID-19 response on gender and domestic based violence” George urged married women to stop nagging so as to reduce the impact of economic crunch occasioned by the pandemic disruption.
He, however, enjoined husband and wife to tolerate one another and ensure that they love each other.
He said; “ poorly raised children are responsible for most of the crises in homes. The emphasis is always on the girl child. I think we need to also focus on the male child to make them grow into responsible adults. We need to include the psychiatrist test also as part of our marital requirements before marriage is conducted to know the sanity level of the would be couple.”
George explains that governments at all levels must ensured that the doctrine of equality before the law is adhered strictly to in order to ensure that there’s no double standard which is responsible for most of the crisis.
