Festus Okoye, National Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission in charge of voters education, has hinted that senate president, Ahmad Lawan and former minister of niger delta, Godswill Akpabio may not be on the ballot in 2023.
Okoye said though the ruling All Progressives Congress has uploaded the names of Lawan and Akpabio on its portal, but the fact that they were not validly nominated may have rendered their nomination inchoate.
Speaking on current affairs program, Sunday Politics monitored in Lagos, Okoye said reports from the two states where the candidates emerged indicated that the primaries that produced them was not monitored by the INEC.
“ The implications of this is that the APC may not have candidates in the two Senatorial districts in 2023. Yobe North and Akwa Ibom north west may not field any candidate in the senatorial districts.” He said.
