Kebbi’s Governor-Elect, Nasir Idris, To Transform State Capital, Accords Education Top Priority

The Kebbi State Governor elect, Dr. Nasiru Idris, has promised to hit the ground running from May 29th handover date by transforming the State capital from its present status of a glorified Local government headquarters, accord the State top priority in education.
Dr. Idris, a Teacher by training and the immediate past National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) disclosed this in his acceptance speech while addressing Journalists at the Presidential lodge in Birnin-KeBibi.
He disclosed further that he will run a peoples oriented government that will provide a galvanised education sector and provide massive revolution in every areas of modern develooment in the State.
The Governor- elect who emphasized more on education development, said massive revolution is needed in the education sector, adding that his government will fully equip all the schools with modern tools and equipment.
He, however, added that in all, Kebbi State will no longer lag behind in national examinations and will take its pride of place in education.
The former NUT National President also assured that Kebbi State will become the real food basket of Nigeria by strengthening the agricultural sector as the State isnaturally blessed with vast fertile lands.
“My administration will inject more life into the sector towards massive food production and bolster food security and Birnin-kebbi metropolis will become a true and real State Capital by executing massive infrastructural development.”
The former Nigeria Teachers’ boss also vowed to pursue a massive rural transformation agenda, noting that this is their time to get the fruits of their support for voting massively for APC government in the State.
The Governor-elect also underscored the imperative of ensuring the security and safety of lives and property of the generality of the people of the state.
He pointed out that the state government is genuinely concerned with the recurring security challenges in the southern parts of the state, assuring to pursue a solid security architecture agenda that will guarantee safety of lives and property the entire people of Kebbi State.
“We will maximize our relationship with all the security agencies to boost the security of lives and property of the people, our government is the government of the people and it shall be by the people. We will initiate more policies and programmes to ensure the even development of the state,” He promised.He also extended hands of fellowship to the opposition parties in the state, saying elections are now over, the task of building a virile, better and bigger Kebbi State is the responsibility of all of us.
