SCAM ALERT: Women’s Centre Disowns Viral ‘World Akara Day’ Festival, Sounds Urgent Alarm Over Fake Event!

ABUJA — The management of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD)has disowned a widely circulated flyer advertising an upcoming event tagged the “World International Akara Day Festiv.”

In an official public notice released from Abuja, the Centre’s management explicitly stated that the unauthorized event will not take place at its premises.

Venue Denies Approval

According to the statement, the Centre has neither approved nor authorized its facilities to be used by the event organizers. The management has strongly advised members of the public to disregard the viral flyer and protect themselves from potential scams.

Citizens are cautioned to refrain from making any financial commitments, payments, or travel arrangements in connection with the fraudulent advertisement.

Official Government Channels

The MBNCWD management clarified that a legitimate national Akara Day initiative is currently underway, but it is strictly being managed through official government channels.

All formal inquiries, proposals, or activities regarding the celebration must be directed exclusively to the Office of the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs. The ministry is coordinating the official national initiative to honor and celebrate the First Lady’s ongoing support and interventions for Nigerian women operating within the informal business economy
