Nigerian Footballers Unite: PFAN Declares End To ‘Divide And Rule’ Era At Global FIFA Summit

ABUJA, NIGERIA — In a historic declaration on the global stage, the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) has officially announced a total end to the internal factions that long crippled the collective bargaining power of the nation’s soccer stars.

In an official press release issued today, 15th September, 2026, during the ongoing FIFA Meeting, the union proclaimed a new era of absolute unity, declaring that Nigerian players home and abroad now speak with one single, indivisible voice.

For years, administration within the Nigerian players’ union was fractured by internal politics and fragmentation. However, PFAN General Secretary Edema Fuludu, MON, revealed that the damaging era of “divide and rule” is firmly in the past. Under the current leadership of PFAN President Tijani Babangida, MON, the house of Nigerian players stands completely consolidated with a singular mandate: to aggressively protect and advance player welfare, post-career education, and legal interest

High-Level Backing for Football Reforms

The union strongly aligned its new-found stability with the current political and sports leadership in Nigeria. PFAN extended profound gratitude to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, crediting his Renewed Hope Agenda for Sports with creating the stable governance structure needed for football to thrive.

Additionally, the union lauded the National Sports Commission (NSC) and its Executive Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, praising his open-door policy and strict alignment with international best practices.

A New Strategic Direction

With administrative infighting resolved, PFAN is shifting its strategy away from conflict and toward structured dialogue. The union expressed its readiness to work as a unified front alongside the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), domestic clubs, and international bodies like CAF and FIFA to reshape the economic landscape for Nigerian athletes.
