Kebbi State A Conduit For Drugs And Narcotics Trafficking– NDLEA boss

Kebbi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has averred that the State in recent times has become a conduit for drugs and narcotics trafficking due to its porous borders.

The Commander of NDLEA, Kebbi State Command, Rabiu Abdullhi Sokoto made this Known on Saturday while destroying large quantity of seized drugs and narcotics the first of its kind in Kebbi State, where a quantum of illicit drugs and narcotics were set ablazed by fire.

Abdullahi Sokoto revealed that no fewer than 25,381.495 kilograms of the seized drugs worth several billions of Naira by street value were destroyed by fire as a pointer to traffickers and their sponsors that Kebbi State despite its porous borders is a no go area for them to operates.

“I want to acknowledge the strategic location of Kebbi State which unfortunately has made it a conduit for drugs trafficking, our State porous borders with Niger Republic to North and Benin Republic to the West have increased the inflow of illicit substances into our Nation through the State.” He said.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Agency Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd), who was represented by the Director of Administration in the Agency, Muhammad Usman, stated that the exhibits to be destroyed  includes Cannabis Sativa weighing 16,951.105 kgs, Cocaine weighing 0.027 kgs, Methamphetamine weighing 0.0036kgs, and Akuskura, weighing 336.381kgs and Tramadol among other psychotropics weighing 8,093.381kgs among others. Bringing the total to 25,381.495kgs.

“The destruction of these confiscated drugs exhibits stands as a clear testament to our resolve to build a drug free society, as we remain firmly committed to eradicating this scourge from our communities.” He said.
